Industrial Machine Age is an Etsy shop owned and operated by Viorel Radu. Viorel used to be sailor until moving to Winnepeg, Canada in 2000, where he worked as a CNC operator and welder. He now combines his two greatest interests, art and mechanics, to create beautiful Steampunk lamps. Viorel creates new and unusual items as well as refurbishing vintage collectibles and antiques. He loves working with materials such as glass and metal and those that have the patina of time. Viorel also incorporates copper and brass into his pieces because he loves the stylish and warm industrial look and feel of those metals. Some days are spent simply collecting objects and pieces to be used in his work. From the treasures he collects, he then finds an item to serve as the foundation or core for each piece. Viorel takes pleasure in knowing that many of his found treasures will be refurbished and used in his art work and Steampunk lamps, instead of ending up discarded or melted down. This lamp combines brass, copper, and crystal glass for a look that is retro, modern, and industrial all at the same time. Each piece used has been recycled and re purposed to create something truly unique and beautiful.
