If you have a creative side or are looking for a fun project idea, making a DIY scrapbook or journal can be rewarding. This allows you to choose papers and themes that are specific to your tastes and interests, making the project both practical and personal. Writing down your thoughts or documenting and saving your memories has never been so fun. For this article, the theme we’re using is Victorian steampunk. This scrapbooking paper from Zazzle will help you create a personalized Victorian steampunk scrapbook or journal in no time. Here are a few steps on how to create one.
There are many ways to design and create your own scrapbook or journal, so use your own creative freedom. These are just some suggestions of my own. For my idea, you will need a three hole punch, a binder of your size choice with three rings and a clear view cover so that you can slip in a personalized cover page, papers for the pages, and the photos or items you wish to include (for scrapbook option).
The first step is to decide your theme. Some suggestions are, vacation, wedding, new baby, etc. In our example, the theme is Victorian steampunk.
Carefully measure where you wish to punch the holes in the papers for your binder. Lightly mark the spots to punch holes in pencil, and punch a few pages at a time, ensuring proper spacing and placement. After you are satisfied with the placement of the holes, use one page as a template to place over new pages to ensure they all align perfectly.
Fill up your binder with your punched pages and you are ready to go. Choose a special page for the cover and insert it in the clear view pocket on front of the binder. Some have a pocket to insert a back page too. Arrange pages and add pages whenever you choose. This option allows the ability to change the order of pages if you later decide to.
The possibilities are really endless with all of the cute paper options and stickers and scrapbooking supplies currently available. Here is a nice tutorial on some other ideas for assembling a journal or scrapbook that may come in handy. The main thing is to make it your own and have fun with it!
